Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using our services

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Grootboom Family's website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.

These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use our services, including but not limited to accommodation bookings, tour reservations, and related services.


2. Our Services

Grootboom Family provides the following services:

  • Accommodation bookings at our heritage guesthouse in Oudtshoorn, South Africa
  • Robben Island tour bookings and packages
  • Online booking management and customer account services
  • Customer support and assistance

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time without prior notice.


3. Bookings & Reservations

Booking Confirmation

All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation. A booking is only confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from us with your booking reference number.

Accuracy of Information

You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided during the booking process is accurate and complete, including:

  • Full name as it appears on identification documents
  • Contact information (email and phone number)
  • Dates and number of guests
  • Special requirements or requests

Age Requirements

Guests must be 18 years or older to make a booking. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.


4. Payments & Refunds

Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit/Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Online payment via Yoco
  • Cash payment (in-person bookings only)

Payment Terms

  • Full payment or deposit may be required at the time of booking
  • Outstanding balances must be paid before check-in or tour departure
  • Prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) unless otherwise stated
  • All prices include applicable taxes unless otherwise specified

Refund Policy

Refunds are processed according to our cancellation policy (see Section 5). Approved refunds will be processed within 7-14 business days to the original payment method.


5. Cancellation Policy

Accommodation Cancellations

  • More than 7 days before check-in: Full refund minus 10% processing fee
  • 3-7 days before check-in: 50% refund
  • Less than 3 days before check-in: No refund
  • No-show: No refund

Tour Cancellations

  • More than 48 hours before tour: Full refund minus 10% processing fee
  • 24-48 hours before tour: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours before tour: No refund

Our Right to Cancel

We reserve the right to cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to weather conditions, safety concerns, or force majeure events. In such cases, you will receive a full refund or alternative arrangements.


6. User Accounts

Account Creation

You may create an account to access additional features. When creating an account, you must:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.


7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use our services for any unlawful purpose
  • Provide false or misleading information
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt our services
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or staff
  • Use automated systems to access our services without permission
  • Reproduce, duplicate, or copy any part of our services without authorization

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grootboom Family shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or other intangible losses
  • Personal injury or property damage not caused by our negligence
  • Acts or omissions of third-party service providers
  • Force majeure events beyond our reasonable control

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific booking or service in question.


9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Grootboom Family and is protected by South African and international copyright laws.


10. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.


11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.


12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
